Write That Novel

Two hour sessions  run by published novelist on alternate Wednesday evenings from 7-9pm  -  next course starts 7th March 2012.

The course takes participants through the stages of writing a novel: planning the novel, characterisations, narrative voice, plot development, creating tension, dialogue, use of flashbacks etc. The tutor provides text examples to illustrate each point.

Students also give guided feedback on their own writing as it progresses. This is done fairly on a rota basis.

During one session a publisher will talk to the group about the process of getting published and answer questions.

This group is suitable for anyone who wants to write a novel, or has started one and feels they need guidance.

Children’s Clay Club

Maddie says, “I am passionate about clay and have been working with it for over 20 years. I believe children need more opportunities to make things by hand, to learn while enjoying the creative process.”

The class will focus on the experience of making something by hand and the wonderfully tactile nature of clay. Children will learn how to hand coil a small pot, make pinch pots and use slab building techniques. The emphasis is on enjoying the process of making and of handling the clay, it is a fun and relaxing experience for the children.
