At the heart of Hanover

ActAble Academy

ActAble Academy is a weekly drama class, held on Mondays during term time.

Students learn how to be star performers barely without noticing, because at the core of ActAble Academy is fun! Each week, younger students have fun with costumes, games and movement and we sometimes do theatre-crafts, or have a visiting tutor (the most recent was a clown!) Older students develop their technical acting skills, including improvisation, devising and characterisation. They also have the opportunity to do drama exams if they would like.

Classes are taught by Sami Jayne who is a professional actress, specialising in children’s theatre performance. “I believe that involvement in the arts plays a part in creating star people. I use drama to encourage essential life-skills; primarily creativity, confidence, and collaboration.” Students will stretch their creativity by being encouraged to use their imaginations by devising short stories and scenes. They will grow in confidence by performing in a safe, encouraging environment to each other and occasionally their parents. They will learn how to listen to others and share their own ideas, by working in collaboration with each other.

Ages 4-7: Monday 3.45pm-4.45pm
