At the heart of Hanover

10. LED Spotlights

Hanover Centre logoMany of you will know that shifting to low-energy lightbulbs can easily save you cash, and so your CO2 emissions, permanently. For example, you can save up to 92% of lighting energy consumption when replacing Halogens.

What have we done here?

In this this Small Meeting Room in the Hanover Centre we achieved high energy reduction. Before the works we had 4 x 58W tubes (a total of 232W) and the room was poorly lit. During a volunteering event we replaced these and wired in LED down-lighters using the last of the £2,000 we gained in our work with Brighton & Hove 10:10 in a successful energy-reducing LEAF bid to government. Now the room is well lit, with two circuits to add flexibility to the lighting needs of users of the room, using sixteen 6W LED spot down-lighters (a total of 96W) – gaining a whopping energy reduction of 136%.
